Free rides in the sky for veterans

Free balloon rides are being offered to veterans from 10 a.m. to noon May 22 at McEuen Park Plaza.

Those wishing to ride are encouraged to sign up in advance. Donations of $25 or more per rider allow the Dream Catcher Balloon nonprofit to give free rides to veterans and people with disabilities around the world.

"If you can walk or wheel to this specially built balloon, you can sit in a seat secured with a 5-point harness for a tethered ride which will leave a smile on your face," said a press release.

Dream Catcher Balloon gives a 360-degree view hot air balloon ride up to 25 feet in the air.
