DOCTOR: Doesn’t deserve being attacked

| April 9, 2021 1:00 AM

First, let me state my bias up front. I don’t like government “mandates” but will withhold judgment on the mask issue until ALL the data is in.

Second, Dr. McLandress has been my family physician for more than 40 years. He brought my youngest son into the world, and helped my parents to leave. We disagree on politics, but when the subject has arisen, that disagreement has been civil.

To suggest that Dick McLandress has any ethical baggage is wrong, dirty and borderline insane. He has consistently demonstrated the highest ethical standards — professionally and personally.

I’ve had enough — no, more than enough — of scurrilous innuendos, mudslinging and character assassination. If Commissioner Duncan has something, put it before the people. If not, shut up and get on with the business we are paying you to conduct.

This kind of back-room politics is not what Conservatism should be. It is, in fact, exactly what the left has done for the last four years (or more).

When did we join the “cancel culture?” You have an honest, ethical man on your board who disagrees with you and strongly states his opinion. By all means, don’t try to listen civilly and respond with reasoned argument, just drum him out by any means possible. After all, the ends justify the means, right?

I’m embarrassed to admit that, in the past, I’ve not paid much attention to the election of county commissioners. It seems that just changed.
