BROOKS: On right track

| April 9, 2021 1:00 AM

Commissioner Brooks has recommended that the county government start a study to see what other options there are to manage our county. They will select citizens to review all the options with no cost to us taxpayers.

We have been growing at such a fast pace, it stands to reason we need to be willing to look at how else to manage all of the issues in the county. I understand that this study will look at many other options that are allowed in Idaho law including a county manager, similar to the city. That could be very helpful as there is so much on the shoulders of the three commissioners currently.

I’m sure there are many other options and when they make a recommendation on what option would best serve the citizens of our county, they will explain their thought process. After we hear them out, we will have an opportunity to vote on their choices.

I think that as our county grows, so should the responsibility grow. It sounds to me that to look to the future and see what other options are available is prudent. Hats off to the commissioners for being willing to “think outside the box” and do what is best for our community.
