Buckets of recipes

COEUR d’ALENE — Firefighters are whipping up some Italian dinner delights thanks to the Coeur d’Alene Rotary Club.

The group called Coeur d’Alene Evening Rotary “Rotary on the Rocks” recently delivered 15 buckets filled with ingredients, supplies and recipes to make meals during shifts to Coeur d’Alene and Kootenai County firefighters.

Rotary volunteer coordinator Sherrie Petersen said they wanted to “show them the love.”

“We wanted to do something to thank them, to give back,” she said. “They do a lot of great work in our community.”

They opted for five-gallon buckets, rather than baskets, because they figured the buckets would get used again.

Petersen said Rotary members pitched in so they could buy the ingredients that included pasta, sauce and sausage, rather than just delivering ready-to-eat meals.

“We know firemen enjoy cooking,” Petersen said.
