The GOAT? Wishing Star knows
COEUR d'ALENE — The Wishing Star Foundation is preparing to deliver live baby goats to surprise friends and raise money.
Through the “Send a Friend a Goat" program and a $60 donation, anyone can have a bleating goat delivered to offices or businesses on the day and time of their choice within the Coeur d’Alene community May 3 to 7.
The recipient will be asked to make a donation of any amount to pay for the removal of the goat. Anyone can sign up to have a goat delivered or, they can purchase “Goat Insurance” for $100 to prevent a surprise visit by registering online at www.wishingstar.org/goats.
Deliveries will comply with COVID-19 guidelines, and our Goat Wranglers will wear Wishing Star masks while bringing sanitizer and wipes along with the baby goat deliveries.
Wishing Star will also be sending goats on the virtual platform. These virtual talking goats will deliver a message to the recipient’s cell number or email. Each message is $25 for one virtual goat delivery or $60 for three virtual goats.
"This is another opportunity to have some fun with coworkers, friends and family who live far away or cannot safely accept a live baby goat," a press release said.
These virtual goats will also be available May 3 through May 9 as a gift for Mother’s Day!
Wishing Star has made a difference in the lives of over 5,000 families. Currently, there are 34 children waiting for their wishes to be granted. An average cost of a wish is $6,000 with an additional $3,500 leveraged in the form of in-kind goods and services from the community.
