Man sentenced to rider in lewd conduct case

POST FALLS — A man will spend time on a rider program after pleading guilty to having sexual contact with two young girls.

Kyle A. Williams, 19, of Coeur d’Alene, pleaded guilty to lewd conduct with a minor under 16, a felony.

Judge Scott Wayman sentenced Williams on Tuesday to two years fixed and eight years indeterminate.

However, Wayman opted to retain jurisdiction in the case. This means Williams will spend up to a year in a prison treatment program, called a rider, before Wayman either places him on probation or sends him back to prison.

Post Falls police responded in March 2020 to a report from a woman who said Williams, who was 18 at the time, had sexual contact with two girls, ages 13 and 14.

The 14-year-girl told police she had met Williams several months prior. Williams allegedly contacted the girl by text message in March and asked to hang out.

The girl said she and her 13-year-old friend agreed to meet Williams for sex.

Williams reportedly picked the girls up and drove around with them. The 14-year-old said Williams touched her inappropriately while they were in his car.

She told police she felt uncomfortable and asked Williams to take her home. He reportedly dropped her off near her residence, while the 13-year-old girl stayed in the car.

The 13-year-old told police Williams drove her to a Post Falls park, where they had sexual contact.

In court Tuesday, the state requested retained jurisdiction in the case, noting that Williams thinks at about the level of a 14-year-old.

Williams reportedly pleaded guilty as part of a pretrial settlement offer.
