Two injured in wrong-way crash

| April 1, 2021 10:40 AM

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in a two-car, wrong-way crash in Post Falls that sent two people to the hospital Wednesday morning.

According to the Idaho State Police, a 2006 Dodge Ram driven by Roger Farrell, 74, of Kalispell, Mont., was westbound when he entered the eastbound lanes about 12:15 a.m.

A Post Falls police officer witnessed the vehicle traveling the wrong way and tried to stop it, but was unsuccessful, ISP said.

Farrell continued west in the eastbound lanes where he collided with a 2019 Kia Sportage driven by Frederick Ley, 25, of Seattle, at milepost 5.

Ley's passenger, Monica Mohn, 61, of Coeur d'Alene, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, ISP said.

Both Fey and Mohn were transported to Kootenai Health. The road was blocked for about three hours.

According to the ISP report, alcohol is believed to be a factor. An investigation continues.
