Petroleum is a thick, yellow to black mixture of gaseous liquid and solid hydrocarbons that occurs naturally in the Earth’s surface, can be separated into fractions including natural gas, gasoline, diesel and lubricating oils, asphalt and used as raw materials for a wide variety of derivative products. Petroleum is much more than oil, it has a long list of by-products.
