MEMORIES: Cd’A a treasure chest

| September 30, 2020 1:00 AM

Thanks to Benita Carlson for “The way it was in Cd’A.” The column brought back many memories of my own.

I didn’t go to Coeur d’Alene High because my father had us enrolled in I.H.M. Academy, but my love of Coeur d’Alene was the same.

We lived only five blocks from school, so we could go home for lunch (we had an hour). I would listen with my mother to soap operas with soup and sandwiches.

On Saturday, I’d walk downtown to browse Woolworth’s, hike Tubbs Hill, check out Penney’s and Montgomery Ward, and have a Coke with friends at the drug on the corner of Fourth Street and Sherman Avenue.

Winter, summer, spring and fall, it was a kid’s dream.
