NIC: Qualifications matter

| September 27, 2020 1:00 AM

I am writing to urge your readers to support the candidacies of Joe Dunlap and Paul Strum to the North Idaho College Board of Trustees.

My reasons for supporting these two candidates are many. I am a lifelong resident of Idaho, residing in Kootenai County for the last 48 years. I am a former board member of NIC. I am also a proud parent of an NIC graduate. I know how important NIC is to our community. I also know how important educational leadership and experience will be in the next few years as NIC navigates its way forward after the pandemic and the financial and social disruptions caused by it.

These are two fine men. They both have doctorates in educational leadership. They both have many years of experience in educational leadership. Joe was the president of NIC and Paul was the superintendent of the Pullman School District for 10 years before his retirement.

In my 48 years as a resident of our great community, I can’t think of two more qualified candidates to stand for election to the board of trustees. They have my vote and I hope they have yours as well.
