Grove one step closer to qualifying for PGA Championship

MISSOULA, Mont. — North Idaho College men's and women's golf coach Russell Grove qualified for the 2021 PGA Professional Championship on the strength of his tie for fifth place at the Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship, which concluded Thursday at Canyon River Golf Club.

Grove shot a 12-under 204 (68-68-68), finishing in a three-way tie for fifth. The top seven finishers qualified for the 2012 PGA Professional Championship, scheduled for April 25-28 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

The top 20 finishers at the PGA Professional Championship earn a spot in the 103rd PGA Championship at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C. on May 20-23, 2021.

Corey Prugh, golf coach at Community Colleges of Spokane, won the Pacific Northwest PGA Professional Championship in a four-hole playoff against Brady Sharp of Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Wash., and Bo Baker from the Creek at Qualchan in Spokane.

Prugh shot a 14-under 202 (64-69-69). Prugh also won the event in 2016 and ’19.
