One more positive case of COVID has been confirmed in the Lakeland Joint School District.

The district sent two letters to families Wednesday evening with information about a positive test. The first letter said no students or staff had been identified as a close contact (within six feet or more for more than 15 minutes), however the second updated letter informed families that if their child had been identified as a close contact, they would be contacted by the school nurse or Panhandle Health District.

"Thank you for your patience, as we are obviously learning how to best respond to each situation and keep parents informed as quickly as possible," Superintendent Becky Meyer wrote in the district-wide letter.

The person who tested positive will not be able to return to the school until after the contagious period has passed per, PHD and Centers for Disease Control guidelines.
