HOUSE: Evict the commissioners

| September 23, 2020 1:00 AM

The headline “Hamilton House faces the music” sounds more like a funeral dirge. Perhaps it’s time we recall our County Commissioners and replace them with individuals who care more about the people and culture of this community than lining their own pockets.

To relegate the Historic Hamilton House to the wrecking ball would constitute irreparable harm like so much that has already occurred. Tearing down the grand old houses of this city that have stood more than a hundred years prominently adding a sense of class and elegance, in exchange for some cheap two bit condominiums that won’t last 20 years is a travesty for all except the developers who’ll make a quick buck and move on.

Enough is enough! Are we going to just sit back and watch our beloved community die a death by a thousand cuts, because that’s exactly what’s taking place. It’s time to put a cap on this kind of unrestrained growth. Developers are taking all the things that we cherished, things that made this community unique, and replacing them with cheap cookie cutter shacks. Besides, Coeur d’Alene needs a Music Conservatory more than a damned parking lot.

Wake up before it’s too late and what you loved about this town is gone for good. If you love something stand up for it. People in this community have a right to be heard.
