COEUR d'ALENE — Pull up, roll up and roll out.

Safeway in Coeur d'Alene is offering drive-thru flu shots Wednesday from 8-11 a.m. in the parking lot at 121 Neider Ave.

Flu shots can be administered to the whole family, from 3 years old and up. According to a press release, no appointment is necessary; just show up and receive flu shots without leaving the car.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, flu vaccinations are key to staying healthy and minimizing the strain on health systems.

Influenza is a contagious disease that typically spreads between October and May through coughing, sneezing, and close contact. Preventing influenza during the COVID-19 pandemic is especially important — both to avoid getting other infections at the same time and reducing the burden on an already strained health care system.

People at high risk of serious flu complications include young children, pregnant women, those with chronic health conditions, and individuals ages 65 and up.

Flu shots are free with most insurance.
