Sept. 21, 2020

The U.S. Constitution was written in secret behind locked doors guarded by sentries.

Though it was hot and humid, windows were kept closed to prevent eavesdropping.

Some of the original framers of the document and state delegates were troubled that the Constitution did not address individual rights. The first 10 amendments were added in 1791 and are collectively known as The Bill of Rights. Study the amendments and the Bill of Rights. Know your Constitution!

Did you know? Nov. 26, 1789, the first national Thanksgiving Day, was created by George Washington as a way of giving thanks for the Constitution.

This Constitution Week Spotlight was provided by Lt. George Farragut Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
