PREP ROUNDUP: Lakeland whips Lewiston in the Dome

MOSCOW — Junior Devon Suko passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third as the 4A Lakeland Hawks handled the 5A Lewiston Bengals 39-24 in a nonleague high school football game Friday night at the Kibbie Dome.

The game was moved indoors from Corbit Field in Rathdrum due to poor air quality.

Suko completed 18 of 29 passes for 299 yards for Lakeland (2-2). Both TD throws went to junior Alden Waddington, who finished with six catches for 112 yards.

Thomas Calder’s 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter put Lakeland up 14-12, and the Hawks never trailed again.

Lakeland, which converted 8 of 11 third downs and 1 of 2 fourth downs, outgained Lewiston 409-327.

John White ran for 74 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries for Lakeland. Ammon Munyer caught five passes for 46 yards, and Calder had four receptions for 41 yards.

Cruz Hepburn ran for two touchdowns for Lewiston (2-2), which beat Lake City and lost by one to Post Falls.

Lakeland plays host to Post Falls on Friday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Hailey LePard had 12 kills as the Royals swept the Lions 25-8, 25-22, 25-20 in Mountain Christian League play at Holy Family Catholic School.

Grace Gwin and Elisa Osborn had eight kills each, and Katie Gipson had 19 service points for North Idaho Christian (3-2, 1-0 MCL), which plays host to Lakeside tonight at 7 at Holy Family.

• POSTPONEMENTS

Poor air quality altered a chunk of this weekend's high school schedule, including three football games slated for Friday night.

Lake City at Post Falls football was moved to today at 1 p.m. St. Maries at Priest River was rescheduled for 4 p.m. Coeur d'Alene JV at Timberlake was canceled.

Lewiston at Coeur d'Alene boys soccer on Friday was postponed; no makeup date was set.

Lakeland-Moscow girls soccer today was moved from Moscow to Rathdrum, with a 2 p.m. start. St. Maries' girls soccer team is scheduled to play at Timberlake today at 10 a.m.
