The core component of the U.S. Constitution is its seven articles.

These describe how the framers envisioned the federal government would run the country. The first three articles establish three branches of government — legislative, executive and judicial. Articles Four, Five and Six define federalism as it relates to state governments. Article Seven outlines how changes can be made to the Constitution.

Did you know? James Madison is considered the “Father of the Constitution” in spite of his misgivings toward some of the content.
