Allen G. McBroom, 77

Allen G. McBroom, 77, passed away Sept. 13, 2020, surrounded by family in Coeur d’Alene.

Allen was born Feb. 15, 1943, in Sacramento, Calif., to Clell and Lela (Hall) McBroom.

The youngest of six children, Allen filled the “baby of the family” role well. He was loved and adored, not only by his parents and siblings, but by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

After high school, Allen studied accounting at Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa. Allen had a fulfilling career for more than 30 years with Lehigh Safety Shoe Corporation, starting out as an auditor and moving into sales, marketing and management. He loved and excelled in his work, continually receiving awards for his diligence and productivity.

Always a people person, Allen never met a stranger. He could brighten a room with his amazing smile. After first meeting him, you would feel like you had known him for years. He would genuinely consider you his friend from that moment on. That’s just how he was.

Allen was a loving husband to Lynette, father to Allen, Lela and Nicole, a proud grandfather to Austin, Landon, McKenna, Ethan, Emma, Molly, Matthew and Jonathan and an adoring great-grandfather to Elle, Alaia, Steel and Souline.

Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Lynette Solomon McBroom; parents Clell and Lela McBroom; brothers Dale and Ray McBroom and sister, Shirley Ulsrud.

He is survived by his children, Allen Shawn McBroom and Lela Rene (McBroom) Smith; step-daughter, Nicole Douglas; their families and his brothers, Ken and Ron McBroom.

A family service will be held at Metier Cemetery in Garden Grove, Iowa, at a date to be determined.
