Triple trouble

A woman is facing multiple felony charges after police said she was found in possession of around $20,000 in forged checks.

A judge ordered Wednesday that Lasca Cecelia J. Pulley, 32, of Coeur d’Alene, be held on $30,000 bail after being arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court.

Pulley is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of forged documents, both felonies.

The charges stem from July 24, when State Trooper Austin Rosedale stopped Pulley for allegedly speeding on I-90 near milepost 6. Rosedale said he smelled marijuana when he approached Pulley’s vehicle, according to court documents.

Upon searching the vehicle, Rosedale said he found a backpack containing marijuana, as well as rubber phlebotomy tourniquets, syringes and tinfoil with burn marks and brown residue.

Rosedale also reportedly found two card readers in the vehicle, as well as a box containing 27 checks, made out for a combined total of approximately $20,000. None of the checks were filled out with Pulley’s name or known aliases, court documents said.

Pulley reportedly admitted to using both heroin and meth within the previous two days. She also allegedly told Rosedale there was a check printer at her house in Cheney, Wash., according to court documents.

After posting $15,000 bail on Aug. 6, Pulley failed to appear in court and a judge issued a $30,000 bench warrant. She was arrested again Sept. 15.

Pulley said in court Wednesday that her failure to appear was due to miscommunication with recently hired private counsel.

The preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 25.
