COEUR d’ALENE — Host Lakeland pushed 5A Coeur d’Alene to four sets Tuesday night, but the Vikings came away with a 27-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19 victory over the 4A Hawks in nonleague volleyball play at Hawk Court.

Sarah Wilkey totaled 17 kills, five digs and two blocks for Coeur d’Alene (4-1). Lauren Phillips added 11 kills and 18 assists, Madi Symons 11 kills and two aces, Courtney Garwood 18 assists, Skylar Burke three blocks, Maggie Lyons eight digs.

“Coeur d’Alene is a tough team with strong players and we showed up to compete with them tonight,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said.

Katy Ryan had 22 kills and three blocks for Lakeland (4-4). Abbey Neff had 27 assists, Olivia Cooper 23 digs, Kenna Simon three blocks, Ellie Carlson three aces.

“Katy had a great game, and Abbey was able to mix up the sets with our hitters,” Badger said. “Olivia was able to dig some tough hits that kept the ball in play. Ellie had some great serves that pushed us forward in the third set.”

Twelve days earlier, the Vikings swept the Hawks in Coeur d’Alene.

“We served hard and had better serve-receive than the last time we played Coeur d’Alene,” Badger said. “Overall, I am very proud of our girls tonight.”

On Thursday, Coeur d’Alene hosts Lake City in a 5A Inland Empire League match, and Lakeland travels to Sandpoint in 4A IEL play.

PRIEST RIVER — Quincy Riggs had 20 assists, Maddie Kociela nine kills and 14 digs for the Panthers in a 25-10, 25-18, 25-5 win over the Spartans in Intermountain League play.

“I thought we played pretty well,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Cindy Beyer said. “We passed the ball a lot better than we did last night (against North Idaho Christian) and our setting improved. I feel good about where we’re at right now and we’re getting better with each match.”

Rylee Peterson had 11 digs, Taylor Peterson 15 digs and Emma Averill five aces for Coeur d’Alene Charter (3-1, 1-0 IML), which faces Timberlake at Holy Family Catholic School on Thursday.

Clark Fork

CLARK FORK — Chloe Cielke had 24 kills for the visiting Miners, who rallied from two sets down before falling 25-17, 25-23, 19-25, 26-28, 15-12 to the Wampus Cats (2-1) in nonleague play.

“They battled,” Wallace coach Katie Bauer said of her team. “Clark Fork's really good and we always struggle here, so just them mentally staying in it and pulling out a win was really huge for them tonight. So that's really what stood out for me, that they pulled it through after dropping a couple sets, so I was really proud of them for that.”

Wallace plays host to Mullan on Thursday.
