Extra deputy patrols ramping up

| September 10, 2020 1:00 AM

Kootenai County Sheriff's Office deputies this week began conducting safety patrols in school areas. They will focus on speed violations as well as crosswalk violations.

Several area schools started this week with the remaining schools opening next week.

"The KCSO would like to remind drivers to slow down in the school zones," a press release said.

Speed limits in school zones are 20 mph. Drivers are required to stop when someone is in a crosswalk or crossing at an intersection.

"Please help us ensure our children are safe while they are commuting to and from school," the release said.
