Notable calls for the day!

Day Shift responded to the following notable calls:

• Deputies assisted ISP with traffic control for a two vehicle, injury crash at Hwy 41 and Diagonal Rd.

• Deputies responded to a welfare check in the Hayden Walmart parking lot. A male and female were located "on the nod" in their car. It was apparent they had both used some sort of opiate recently. Both had warrants for Probation Violation. Both were arrested. One of the subjects was also in possession of heroin paraphernalia and was also charged for that.

• Deputies were extremely busy with weather related calls. Various fires, trees down, lines down etc. Some of the significant ones are a large tree falling into and damaging the Pro Shop at the Hayden Lake Country Club, a tree into a truck, camper and boat in a driveway on St. James, power lines sparking fires on Cottonwood Bay Rd., Riverview, Hayden Lake Rd., Bonnel Rd, Hwy 3, two overturned sailboats, one swamped boat, and a kayaker in distress that could not recover his boat.

• In addition deputies responded to several 911/phone line and electrical line problems as well as reports of trees down and traffic hazards.

Evening Shift responded to the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to E. 12th Ave in Post Falls for a family disturbance during a medical call. Deputies responded on scene and no crime was committed and medical personnel took primary and transported a patient. 20-38910

• Deputies responded to N. Beck road for an agency assist. PFPD requested K9 for a possible burglary in progress. Deputies and k9 Dyno arrive on scene and cleared the building and surroundings. Deputies were unable to locate the male suspect, and PFPD took primary. 20-38860

• Deputies responded to Hayden Post Office for a “suspicious package.” An R/P stated he saw what he thought to be a “strange package” outside the building and thought this was out of place. Deputies located a black handbag with cigarette butts and paper sitting next to a trash pile. 20-38864

• Deputies responded to N. 4th Street in Dalton for a welfare check. A male was upset due to his ex-wife had passed away two days ago. The male had been sober for 4 years and fell off the wagon yesterday due to the passing of his ex-wife. Deputies transported the male to the crisis center per his request. 20-38929

• Deputies responded to a DUI at 16th Ave x Syringa St in Post Falls. Deputies charged a male driver for DUI (0.223/0.219) and for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. 20-38900

• Deputies were very busy during their shift with reports of fires and traffic hazards as well as numerous other calls for service.

Night Shift handled the following notable calls:

• Deputies responded to N Isle View Rd outside of Spirit Lake for a structure fire. When power to the area came back on, electrical wires started smoking and caught on fire. The house had burnt to the ground by the time Fire and KCSO units arrived. Everyone made it out of the house but the house was along IEP land and Fire was working to contain it. 20-38965
