PREP VOLLEYBALL: Post Falls improves to 6-0

POST FALLS — Kylie Munday had 16 kills and 15 assists for Post Falls in 25-20, 25-19, 25-17 win over the Lakeland Hawks in Inland Empire League play at The Arena on Tuesday.

“She just plays to the ball really well,” Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. “She knows where to put the ball.”

Brielle Nagel had 10 kills, Kassie Gardiner 15 assists and five aces, Maya Blake 13 digs and four blocks, Kamden Fiddes three blocks and Claire Holding 12 digs for Post Falls (5-0, 3-0 IEL) against Lakeland.

“We moved the ball to several different hitters and played good defense against them,” Hanna said.

In Post Falls' second match Tuesday, Minden had 16 assists, Munday 12 kills and three aces, Nagel six kills, three aces and eight digs as the Trojans beat Timberlake 25-11, 25-13, 25-14 to improve to 6-0.

In the other match, Lakeland beat Timberlake 25-18, 25-20, 25-6.

Against Post Falls, Katy Ryan had 14 kills, four blocks and two aces for Lakeland. Abbey Neff had 23 assists, Olivia Cooper 15 digs.

“Katy had an all-around awesome night. She played hard and carried the team,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “Cooper was able to get some awesome digs and passed well on serve-receive. Unfortunately, we had a player with an injury and we couldn’t get in our groove.”

Against Timberlake, Neff had 12 aces to go with her 20 assists. Ryan added 10 kills, Addisen Kiefer had seven kills and three blocks, and Cooper had nine digs.

“Timberlake pushed hard for every point and played hard tonight,” Badger said. “We were able to pick up the tempo on our side and put the ball to the floor.”

On Thursday, Post Falls is home vs. Lake City, and Lakeland is home vs. Kellogg. Timberlake returns to action Monday at home vs. Bonners Ferry.

Post Falls hosts Lake City on Thursday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Junior Hanah Stoddard totaled 14 kills, six assists and five aces as the Timberwolves swept the Bulldogs 25-13, 25-10, 25-11 in Inland Empire League play.

“She’s kind of our swiss-Army knife,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said of Stoddard. “She can set and pass and hit. It’s fun to move her around, because it keeps the other team on its toes.”

Nellie Reese had 18 assists and four aces for Lake City (2-0, 2-0 IEL). Ella Hosfeld added five kills and seven digs, Brenna Hawkins five kills, Jaya Miller eight digs, Tanai Jenkins two blocks.

“We came out focused right out of the gate,” Kleinberg said. “We’re approaching every game like it could be our last. The girls were excited to finally play at home.”

Sandpoint is 0-4, 0-2.

“By far the best team we’ve played so far this year,” Sandpoint coach Karen Alsager said of the Timberwolves. “Lake City has a lot of firepower and we struggled putting up something to get in the way of that firepower.

“They have it all.”

Lake City visits Post Falls on Thursday in an IEL matchup of undefeated teams.

COEUR d’ALENE — Quincy Rigg had 23 assists, Rylee Peterson nine aces for the Panthers in a four-set win over the Royals at Holy Family Catholic School.

Maddie Kociela had nine kills and Jaclyn Peterson four kills for Coeur d’Alene Charter (2-0), which faces North Idaho Christian again on Monday at Holy Family Catholic School.
