FEAR: Blame Press, PHD

| September 9, 2020 1:00 AM

I moved to this area four years ago and was amazed at the friendly and warm welcoming people who lived here. We have great neighbors and people everywhere were friendly, engaging in conversation wherever we might be.

But not now. Now the community is divided by fear. Some of us know the source of fear.

The Coeur d'Alene Press and Panhandle Health District have pushed COVID new cases and deaths for months. It is only the last three weeks that COVID has not had two front page stories per day. Now if you do not wear a mask you receive condemning looks. Some feel warranted to commit assault and battery at Walmarts.

Today a visitor from Arizona took it upon herself to condemn us for not watching out for her health and threatened not to return. We got a guest opinion condemning the local militias for preventing a riot and looting as had occurred in Spokane the previous week telling our local police the danger was the militia. Just in time for BLM/Antifa's next planned visit to our community before the coming election.

I know we cannot turn the clock back, but it is important to remember our history and recognize opportunity exists thanks to the vision of the founding fathers.
