NEZPERCE — When you outgain your opponents by 97 yards, albeit running half the plays on offense, it tends to be a good day for your offense.

Saturday was a good day for the Lakeside Knights.

Vander Brown had seven carries for 211 yards, Jayson Hall five carries for 123 yards for the Knights in a 54-30 win over the Lewis County Eagles in a nonleague game.

“Vander had a good day running the ball, and so did Jayson and Alberto Arroyo,” Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. “We did some good things today and played a lot better on defense than our first game. It was a good game for us and good to get a win.”

Lakeside — which averaged 16.1 yards per play — outgained Lewis County 450-353, only running 28 plays on offense while Lewis County countered with 63.

Alberto Arroyo had 11 tackles for Lakeside (1-1), which hosts Clark Fork on Friday.

“We worked on tackling a little better this week in practice,” Dohrman said. “Sonny Reuben came back this week and really helped us at defensive end. He was a big one for us today.”

Quarterback Ty Hambly ran for 248 yards for Lewis County (1-1), a co-op of Highland/Nezperce and Culdesac High.
