POST FALLS — One person died after a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle just north of the Stateline Speedway on Saturday afternoon, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office reported.

Deputies responded to the 1800 block of North Beck Road at 4:20 p.m. The driver and sole occupant of the truck was unharmed, KCSO reported, but the motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash ended in a field where a small grass fire started; it was quickly extinguished by Kootenai County Fire and Rescue personnel.

After an investigation by the KCSO Traffic Team and Idaho State Police, the driver of the truck, Terry Pratt, was arrested for felony vehicular manslaughter, KCSO reported. Alcohol was not a factor in the incident.

The identity of the motorcycle operator was being withheld late Saturday pending notification of the family, KCSO reported.
