Audiences have a second chance to see a local teen’s film Sept. 12 at the Hayden Discount Cinema.

Elijah Holston’s film, “Second Chances,” premiered last month at the Hayden Discount Cinema. Almost 100 people showed up for the premiere — so many that two showings were needed in order to adhere to physical distancing guidelines.

“It was a great feeling to finally have the film finished and to have a lot of people watch it in a theater,” said Holston, who wrote and directed the film.

The Sept. 12 showing will give the community another chance to see the movie, which tells the story of a teen struggling to come to terms with a family tragedy.

Holston, 17, is a homeschooled student who’s been making short films since he was eight years old. He’s interested in telling stories that reflect his faith. “Second Chances,” his first feature-length project, is no exception.

“God blessed this entire production,” Holston said. “We would not have been able to make this film if He hadn’t led us through the whole process.”

“Second Chances” was originally scheduled to premiere this spring, but it was delayed due to COVID-19. Holston said the delay gave him time to focus on other projects. He’s completed one script and has two others in progress.

“We’re planning on shooting our next film either late this year or early next year,” he said. “Making ‘Second Chances’ was a great experience and I can’t wait to get back on set.”

After tonight’s show, Holston said “Second Chances” will play on a regular basis at Hayden Discount Cinemas. It will also be available to stream beginning next February.
