Glen Glessner, 92

Glen R. Glessner passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Aug. 29, 2020.

He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Glessner; three brothers, George (Bud) Glessner, Jack Glessner and Jim Glessner; five children: Robert Glessner, Jean Ost, Jerry Glessner, Roger Glessner and Ron Glessner; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Glen was preceded in death by his mother and father, George and Myrtle; his sister, Doris; and sister, Peggy.

Glen was born June 25, 1928, in Seattle, to George Glessner and Myrtle Glessner (Williams).

Glen joined the Army Air Corps in 1945 and served for three years. He met Irene in 1954 at the Circle Tavern in Seattle, where they spent many evenings dancing. They married in 1955, in Renton, Wash. They lived in Maple Valley, Wash., until 1965, when they moved to Coeur d’Alene and settled in Cougar Gulch to raise their family.

In retirement, Glen’s hobbies included winemaking, gardening and raising beef cattle. Glen loved spending time with family and telling stories.

A funeral service is planned for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at Yates Funeral Home – Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. A viewing will be held at 11 a.m., prior to the funeral. Glen will be laid to rest in Forest Cemetery following the service.
