CHURCH: Stay out of politics

| October 30, 2020 1:00 AM

I recently moved to Coeur d’Alene and visited St. Joan of Arc church in Post Falls and I heard a rather disturbing homily about socialism.

From what I understand, Nazis were fascists and not socialists, and fascism might I add is a right-wing trait.

The priest then mentioned how it’s unconstitutional for churches to be shut down by the government and claims that Donald Trump understands there is a war on Christianity in our nation, yet four years ago Donald Trump wanted to ban Muslims from entering our country when yet the First Amendment applies to all religions, not just Christianity.

Also, if Donald Trump is so pro-life, then why does he have kids in cages at the border separated from their families? Why does he refer to the Hispanic community as rapists and drug dealers? Does our faith not teach racial prejudice to also be a mortal sin and a violation of human rights? Also does not the code of canon law 287 say that clergy cannot side with political parties and/or candidates?

I say if you guys want to get involved in politics, then start paying your taxes.
