The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Hayden Lake Family History Center are presenting a virtual family history Discovery Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Community members are invited to participate in workshops and activities to learn more about their family trees.

Download the Zoom app on a phone, tablet or computer to prepare for this conference, The Story of You.

The first session will feature Katherine Gee Perrone. Perrone is an award-winning playwright and storyteller who spent her childhood surrounded by a large, loving family of artists in Austin, Texas and now makes her home in the Pacific Northwest. She performs as a storyteller to schools throughout the region, in addition to hosting her own monthly music and story time, “Kat Tales.”

In her writing and storytelling, Perrone looks for the heroic in the ordinary, the humor in the tragic and the universal truths in timeless tales. She is the mother of two young girls. When Perrone isn’t telling her daughters stories, she spends her time searching for stories in the people, the old books, and the beauties of nature that surround her.

Workshops also include Family History on the Go with Tammy Lively, Google Photos with Turner Sutton, Breaking through Brick Walls with Pam Duce, Intro to DNA with Miles Meyer and more.

A scavenger hunt that began Oct. 1 will run through Friday. Participate to be included in a drawing for prizes. The drawing will be Saturday and prizes will be announced after the first session.
