It's almost Turkey Trot time

| October 15, 2020 1:00 AM

The Snake Pit will host the 43rd annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26.

"The Turkey Trot is a great way to get some fresh air and exercise before digging into a Thanksgiving feast and raise money and food for the Shoshone Food Bank all at the same time," said a press release.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no official start time. The Snake Pit will be open from 8 to 11 a.m. Participants are welcome to run the five-mile course on The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes at their convenience.

The Snake Pit will have a fire, coffee, hot chocolate and adult beverages, snacks and biscuits and gravy to runners and supporters.

While it is free, people are asked to donate nonperishable food or money for the Shoshone Food Bank. There will also be a Turkey Trot T-shirt, which can be ordered in advance and picked up at the event, or ordered at the event and picked up at The Snake Pit the following week.

Proceeds from T-shirt sales will go to the Shoshone Food Bank.

There is also a virtual Turkey Trot. "If your preferred exercise on Thanksgiving morning is sleeping in then simply order a T-shirt and pick it up at The Snake Pit any time," the release said. "We promise not to tell anyone whether you ran or not!"

T-shirt order forms can be downloaded from The Snake Pit's Facebook page — look for the Turkey Trot under "Events."
