LEWISTON — On Saturday, the Vikings left no doubt in their matchup with the Bengals at Walker Field, scoring three first-half goals on the way to a win in the 5A Inland Empire League finale for both.

Elise Frazier, Abbie Lyman and Kelly Allen-Lara scored in the first half for Coeur d’Alene (8-1-2, 5-0-1 5A IEL), which tied Lewiston (1-4-1) on Aug. 27 at home.

“It was a good game for us,” Coeur d’Alene coach Andy Vredenburg said. “The girls connected well and we had a lot of opportunities and finished well. On Thursday (a 2-1 loss at Moscow), we got outplayed, so this was a good bounce back game for us.”

Coeur d’Alene, which clinched the league title on Sept. 22, hosts Post Falls to open the 5A Region 1 tournament next Saturday at noon. Lewiston visits Lake City in the other opening round match.

Those girls show up to work each day and work hard getting better. They are the future of the team, but don’t get nearly as much playing time as the starters.”

Post Falls (3-8) opens the 5A Region 1 tournament at Coeur d’Alene next Saturday at noon.

SPIRIT LAKE — Timberlake coach Steve Michael called on freshman Telize Anderson to play a little out of her element in a nonleague match against visiting Lakeland.

What a trick that turned into.

Anderson recorded a hat trick for the Tigers, scoring two of her three goals in the first half.

“In club ball, she’s more of a holding midfielder,” Michael said. “We needed to fill a spot and put her up and make her own way. It’s a new position for her, but she’s adapting well.”

Timberlake (5-3-2) faces Coeur d’Alene Charter on Wednesday at The Fields at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls.
