Elks Lodge helping foster families

| November 21, 2020 1:00 AM

Elks Lodge 1254 will be donating more than 50 Thanksgiving food boxes to foster families today.

Exalted Ruler Deborah Nadrchal said the lodge spent about $2,000 at Super 1 to purchase turkeys and everything else necessary for a complete Thanksgiving dinner.

All told, 52 families will be picking up the boxes valued at $40 each between noon and 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1170 W. Prairie Ave.

Nadrchal said Elks Lodge members want to do what they can for others this holiday season. She believes foster families are sometimes overlooked.

“We want to help alleviate some of the pressure on those families that are taking care of foster children,” Nadrchal said.

The Lodge will also be having a Christmas party next month for foster children, with gifts, treats and a visit with Santa Claus.
