LAWSUIT: Shades of John Birch

Republican Central Committee suing the Coeur d’Alene School District? Holy Moley!

Reminds me of back in the 1950s, when the John Birch Society was finding communists behind every maple tree in the city, and was accusing teachers and others of suspicious behavior. They rumored that Ray Stone was a communist because he was teaching critical thinking in his American Government class at the high school. The same Ray Stone who became professor at North Idaho College and mayor of Coeur d’Alene.

I was teaching in Worley at the time, and remember many discussions with Brian School’s principal Bob Olsen about the waves the John Birch Society was making.

It seems to me the redness of North Idaho will have an impossible time blending the red and blue to purple. I surely hope this frivolous suit is not taken seriously by the courts.
