DMV: Full of excuses

Maybe executive director Glenn Miles should look into the Department of Motor Vehicle Licensing traffic jam they have. I tried to renew my license for my trailer online. No such luck — said wrong information {right off registration card} and of course you can’t speak to anyone live.

The recording says to go online or download the app or go wait in line. If you go online, they want to charge your credit card, but you can go anywhere in town and use the same card without being charged extra. Really strange.

Also, the article in the paper mentioned that Sandpoint, Bonner’s Ferry and St. Maries would no longer do Kootenai County registration. Why is it you can go to the market, restaurant or other places and things seem to run OK? Maybe the new sheriff in town should look into making the vehicle licensing a privately run entity like Spokane, where they have nine offices for you to register your vehicle.

For the past few years, they used the computer changeover as the problem. Then they bought another building and remodeled it and now they are using COVID-19 as the main excuse. But for some reason, Spokane does not seem to have as big a problem as Kootenai County.

I would also move the driver licensing department to a private entity as well. Removing some things from government-run to private sector can be much more efficient.
