PHD reports second-highest single day of COVID
Panhandle Health District reported the second-highest number of single-day COVID-19 cases Monday on record.
The health district reported 184 new cases Monday evening in the five northernmost counties of Idaho, 148 of which stemming from Kootenai County. Both numbers eclipse all but Friday’s record high of 210 cases district-wide.
The numbers have steadfastly risen since mid-September, not long after students returned to school for the fall semester.
The new caseload brings the total of Idaho cases up to 6,683 confirmed and probable cases since the virus first struck Idaho in March. Of those, 4,544 cases have closed. A total of 363 patients district-wide have been hospitalized.
Eighty-two North Idahoans have died as a result of the coronavirus.
