MASKS: Mandate is reasonable
It amazes me to hear those who say mandating masks is an infringement on their liberties. Society places reasonable limits on us all the time. We can’t do 60 mph on Sherman, shoot deer in residential areas, nor drive under the influence because these actions have potential harm to others. We also can’t walk downtown naked because society has deemed that illegal because it might offend certain sensibilities. If you did so, you would be arrested and prosecuted for indecent exposure.
Not wearing a mask during a pandemic which helps but is not perfect is selfish and a real indecency in its potential to expose others to COVID.
I visited Santa Cruz, Calif., in May. The beaches were closed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. along with other regulations. Everyone was masking and following recommendations. I was stunned. Because of this they have had only 25 deaths with a population of 67,000 in the high density population arena of the Bay Area. But then, they are California liberals who don’t love America, so what do they know.
