Hayden cancels Veterans Day gathering

| November 3, 2020 1:00 AM

HAYDEN — The Hayden Veterans Commission and the city of Hayden have decided to cancel the Veterans Day and Distinguished Veteran ceremony on Nov. 11.

The move was necessary, "Due to the State of Idaho moving back into Stage 3 recently and the concern for the safety and health of our community," said a press release.

To honor veterans, a video will include a message from Mayor Steve Griffitts; the presentation of the 2020 Distinguished Veteran of the Year award to Joan Genter, retired SMSGT, United States Air Force; an address from scheduled guest speaker Bill Brooks, E-5, Army Security Agency; and the reading of the newly-installed pavers in the PFC Robert J. Gordon Veterans Memorial Plaza by Council President Roger Saterfiel. The video will be available for viewing Nov. 11 at www.cityofhaydenid.us.

The city of Hayden and the Hayden Veterans Commission wish to thank all of the men and women who have served in this great country.
