PREP FOOTBALL: Lakeside overwhelmed in playoff opener

PARMA — Isaac Mitton and Ryn Severe had a pair of touchdowns in the first half as the Oakley Hornets ran past the Lakeside Knights 78-6 in the opening round of the state 1A Division I playoffs at Parma High.

Lakeside, at state for the first time since 2001, finishes 4-3.

KIMBERLY — Kimberly quarterback Heath Owens accounted for five touchdowns, four passing and one rushing, as the Bulldogs beat the Wildcats in the opening round of the state 3A playoffs.

Kolby Luna caught a pair of touchdown passes from Riply Luna of 71- and 48-yards for Kellogg (3-5), which finished runner-up in the Intermountain League.

Kimberly (8-1) advances to the quarterfinals next weekend.
