HOLIDAYS: How to save them

| November 1, 2020 2:00 AM

Christmas. The most wonderful time of year. The time for large family gatherings and going out to celebrate the holidays, however the way things are going this year, we may not be able to do that.

As of right now, Kootenai County’s case numbers are moving fast in the wrong direction. Every day more and more of our neighbors are testing positive and suffering from Covid-19. As of October 27, we had over 60,000 cases here in Idaho and just over 500 deaths. Nationwide, we have over 8,000,000 cases with over 200,000 deaths.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, enjoys wearing a mask. They fog up our glasses, cause acne, and can get uncomfortable after a long period of time. However, just by wearing a mask, you could make a difference.

Masks can trap droplets that come out of a person’s mouth when they talk, cough, or sneeze. Guess what? That is exactly how the virus spreads. The virus is transmitted through respiratory droplets from an infected person. It can take up to two weeks to get symptoms, so you could be spreading germs before you realize you are sick.

Save Christmas. Wear a mask when you are in public, social distance, and wash your hands. That’s it. Trust me, as a recovered Covid patient, I don’t want to go through it again or be the cause of somebody else’s suffering. I would like to have a normal Christmas this year and I’m sure you would too.
