Intermax Networks acquires Tel-West

| May 30, 2020 1:00 AM

Intermax Networks, a leader in business and residential internet, phone, and IT managed services, has acquired Spokane-based Tel-West Business Communications, a regional professional voice communications specialty firm. The transaction takes effect June 1.

“Tel-West has an exceptional reputation and serves many well-known and well-respected companies in the Spokane area with their suite of products and services. It is our goal to ensure those customers’ needs continue to be met,” said Mike Kennedy, president of Intermax.

Tel-West’s former owner and long-time director, Danette “Danny” Harmon, is retiring and will consult with Intermax to ensure a smooth transition.

“Intermax is a perfect match to continue the high level of service and support we have brought to our customers for 35 years, Harmon said. “Our customers and our team are going to be in good hands with Intermax.”

“We are not only looking forward to exceeding the expectations of loyal Tel-West customers, we are also very pleased to welcome Tel-West employees into the Intermax family,” Kennedy said.

Since 2001, Intermax has built a family of communications products that allow single-source responsibility for business telecom needs — gigabit fiber data service, voice over IP (VoIP) phone service through Intermax’s redundant electronic phone switch in Liberty Lake, PBX equipment from world-leading NEC, and private network management outsourcing. This multi-pronged approach brings the luxury of a single source of advanced telecom solutions to small and medium size business, removing the headache of multiple providers.

The Tel-West acquisition adds a strong Spokane presence for the Intermax suite of VoIP and PBX telecom products. In the last six years, Intermax has acquired two other telecommunications companies, Thompson Communications, Inc. (TCI) of Coeur d’Alene, and TNT of Sandpoint. The Spokane office will be led by Tad Thompson, Intermax Vice President of Voice Division, managing all telecom services.

The current Tel-West office at 7311 East Broadway will become Intermax’s new Spokane office.
