Spotlight on Seniors May 18, 2020
Coeur d’Alene High senior Madison Fernimen was a four-year starter in softball. Last year she led the team in batting average (.516), on-base percentage (.575), stolen bases (28), runs scored (27) and fewest strikeouts (4). Fernimen has signed a letter of intent to play softball at NCAA Division I University of Buffalo. With a cumulative GPA of 4.25, she has competed in other organizations such as Scholastics and Mathletes. As a junior, she was state champion in DECA, then later competed at nationals in Orlando, Fla.

Lake City High senior Avery Gephart will be swimming for NCAA Division III University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash., in the fall. She has been swimming for the Coeur d’Alene Area Swim Team since she was 7, and swam for Lake City for the past four years. She qualified for state in three events this past November. Gephart plays the cello in the Lake City orchestra and has been a Girl Scout since age 9. She is graduating in the top 10 of her class, with a weighted GPA of 4.23.
