U of I offering two $1,000 scholarship prizes for high school seniors

The University of Idaho Department of Theatre Arts is calling high school seniors with an interest in theater to create a short video for a chance to win one of two $1,000 scholarships for fall 2020.

Students with an interest in acting, design, stage management, directing and writing are encouraged to apply by submitting a two- to three-minute video showcasing their talent and passion for theater.

“We’re not just looking for the best and brightest young theater artists in our region; we’re also looking for those artists who know how to showcase their talent,” said Robert Caisley, chair of U of I Theatre Arts. “After all, this is a highly competitive business, and the ability to promote and distinguish yourself from the competition is a valuable skill we help all our students develop.

“This scholarship opportunity is specifically designed to seek out those entrepreneurial artists looking to the arts.”

Students should send a link of their video to theatre@uidaho.edu by 5 p.m. June 13. Send questions to the same address.

Visit www.uidaho.edu/class/theatre for information about the scholarship and U of I Theatre Arts.
