RIGGS: Personally, he’s ideal

I write to encourage the voters of Legislative District 3 to support Peter Riggs for state Senate.

Peter and I grew up just a year apart in Coeur d’Alene, so our paths crossed many times over the years. I first met him playing park & rec basketball when we were kids, but I have gotten to know him best over the last decade or so, serving on the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee and in various capacities with the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce. Peter and I were also fortunate enough to be selected to participate in the Chamber’s leadership program in 2017.

While you can get a good feel for his qualifications through a voter guide or a website, I’d like to tell you about Peter’s personal attributes that don’t always come through on paper.

Through my experiences, I have come to appreciate Peter’s thoughtful nature, his ability to quickly identify problems, and then craft effective, insightful solutions. He knows when to talk, and when to ask others for their opinions or concerns. He doesn’t just talk to fill space. Boise needs people with these qualities. Peter Riggs is someone who can fix problems, not just complain about them. He will fight for what’s right, but not just for the sake of fighting.
