| May 2, 2020 1:00 AM

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Devin Ray Nelson, age 47, on April 20, 2020. Devin was born in July of 1972, to Dan and Diana Nelson, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The family then moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, where he lived the first three years of his life. There he learned to ride his first motorcycle and continued to ride and follow racing throughout his life.

The family made the move back to Coeur d’Alene, where Devin developed a passion for golf, joined the high school golf team, and had many memories of state championships and friendships that have lasted over 30 years.

He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1990, then attended Columbia College and came back to Coeur d’Alene, where he worked at Kootenai Saw and Cycle and then River City Yamaha.

Devin loved the outdoors; whether it was golfing, snow skiing, motorcycle riding, bicycling, waterskiing, summer camping trips to Priest Lake or any other outdoor activity. Throughout all his adventures Devin made many lifelong friendships. He was a great storyteller, had a charismatic personality, and always had a smile on his face.

In July of 2008, Devin welcomed his pride and joy, his daughter Lilliana. She was the love of his life and everyone who knew him, knew how proud he was to be her Dad.

Devin has been a resident of Sandpoint for the last five years. He loved the Sandpoint community, his job at Tango Café and his amazing friends. Devin was a beloved father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He will be forever missed by many.

Devin was preceded in death by his father, Dan Ray Nelson and is survived by his daughter, Lilliana Nelson, age 11; his mother, Diana Mills and stepfather, Greg Mills; sister, Denise Leyva; nephew, Ethan Leyva, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Devin’s life will be held later this summer.
