David Daniel Starr was a resident in Hayden, Idaho, and passed away on March 23, 2020. He was born Jan. 17, 1946, to Esther Cawein and David L. Starr. He was born and raised in California and lived there most of his life. He married Cheryl Theresa Nelson on May 21, 1966, in La Canada, Calif.

David was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1972. He worked for the Glendale and Burbank Fire Departments from 1967 to 2006, serving as a paramedic, and was eventually promoted to battalion chief. He and his wife moved to North Idaho in 2009.

David loved boating, water-skiing, working in the yard, fishing, traveling, and being outdoors. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his family.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served valiantly, including a full-time mission with his wife. David received the Scout of the Year award and served in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was also awarded the Act of Valor from the city of Glendale for saving a life while off duty.
