CRISIS: Doing your part

| March 25, 2020 1:00 AM

Our President and our Governors are sharing one simple message: Slow the spread of this disease.

The reasoning for this is simple.

The greatest risk in this crisis is to our elderly and our infirm. The greatest source of that risk is those of us who are healthy who choose to not change our lifestyle despite the warnings from our doctors and leaders across the globe.

The more we all choose to stay at home, distance ourselves from others, and practice good hygiene, the longer it takes for this virus to propagate.

The longer it takes for this disease to propagate, the more time we have to increase our hospitals’ capacities, and time to develop a vaccine.

Our Lord once delivered us a simple message once as well: “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” There is no greater expression of this love in this crisis than doing your part to contain this virus.

Together the world is facing this crisis. We all have our roles to play. Some will have to wait this out at home, others will be on the front lines risking exposure so that others may stay safe.

As a Catholic, you will understand my closing thought: Saint Corona, Mary, Joseph and all of the Saints in Heaven preserve us from this deadly scourge and ask Him who rules all for His Mercy, in Jesus’ Name, amen.
