Junior’s Cocina Mexicana to open this week

Mexican food and a special place for outdoor events will be at Junior’s Cocina Mexicana, opening this week at 313 Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive.

The former location of O’Shay’s Irish Pub, the new brother restaurant to the area’s Toro Viejo eateries will offer traditional Mexican dishes and unique specials made with goat meat, cow tongue, cactus, elote and more with several beverages.

The indoor seating has booths and tables in a modern decor with a separate bar with TVs and custom murals by artist Cain Benson. The huge outdoor area in the rear will hold up to 1,200 people for music and special events.

Owner Junior Briseno’s place will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with more hours in the summer. Phone 208-771-7020.

New Midtown building under construction

A two-level, six-suite building under construction at 1022 N. Fourth St. will hold up to six commercial occupants when it opens in August.

Located across from Safeway, “This building will be ideal for a bakery, pizza or coffee shop and service businesses such as for beauty and hair salons and professional offices,” said Don “Pepper” Smock, owner with his son Duffy of Windermere Realty. Suites also can be combined.

A new location for Griffitts Facial & Oral Surgery is under construction at 8724 N. Wayne Drive in Hayden. The June completion will replace Dr. Trevor Griffitts’ offices at 511 W. Hanley Ave. in June.
