Sandra Marlowe with student guests will play the JACC tonight

POST FALLS — Jazz vocalist, performing and recording artist Sandra Marlowe, whose debut album in 2012 gained national and international attention, is appearing at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center at 7:30 tonight.

Joining her are three distinguished local musicians — Eugene Jablonsky on bass, Don Goodwin on keyboard and Rick Westrick on percussion — for her first show in North Idaho, where she resides.

A rare versatility in timbre and range, Marlowe brings an expressive and improvisational approach to jazz and blues, redefinition to pop and musical theater songs and bold statements to her originals. With vocal mastery and an audience rapport that reflects sass and humor, she captivates listeners and inspires memorable shows. Marlowe has performed around the U.S. at festivals, clubs and events, and is a popular guest artist with big bands and symphonies.

An educator and vocal instructor, Marlowe has invited three outstanding young horn players from Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy to join her on stage during the second set: 11th-graders Maria Aguiar and Jackson Emry and 10th-grader Caleb Wessels. They are part of an award-winning jazz band under well-known director and jazz trumpeter Michael Harrison, who will also be sitting in on some selections.

Tickets are available online at www.thejacklincenter.org through Eventbrite for $15 or at the door for $20.

Doors open with refreshments at 7 p.m.
