Teen injured in car crash

| June 26, 2020 12:05 PM

A 17-year-old male was hurt in a single-car crash on S. Loffs Bay Road early Friday.

Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Worley Fire Department responded to the area of Loffs Bay Road and Mylonite Drive just before 5 a.m. when it was reported that a vehicle was in the roadway and cut into two pieces.

The occupant “was reported to be barely conscious,” a press release said.

Once on scene, deputies found the vehicle in two pieces and the driver outside the vehicle.

The teen was transported to Kootenai Health for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

KCSO investigators determined alcohol may be a factor and excessive speed is believed to have been a major contributor to the crash, the release said.

The KCSO will have extra patrols throughout Kootenai County aimed at curbing aggressive and impaired driving surrounding the Fourth of July celebrations and urges people to drive safely.
